Active RFID provides accuracy, flexibility and certainty

Active RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) monitoring of tags through strategically placed readers up to 50 metres (150 feet) away reads and reports all tags actually present in real time, including tag information (such as freezer temperature) continuously 24/7.

What’s the difference?

Active RFID vs. Passive RFID

Passive RFID systems use tags that do not contain a battery – they are activated only when passing close to a fixed or moving scanner. Passive RFID is an acceptable solution for short-range indoor applications, however cannot match the all-weather certainty, flexibility or range of applications of Active RFID tags.

Keeping track of different bins can be a nightmare.

What’s the difference?

Active RFID vs. GPS/GSM Automatic Vehicle Location systems

Though it is possible to maintain a record of a vehicle’s routes, stops etc, using GSM/GPS system, there are certain key functions that can only be performed by Active RFID.

These include identification of the load or trailer being towed by a prime mover, positive vehicle identification used in the recording of weighbridge information, and hands-free entry and exit to secure premises, loading docks etc.

This is the reason why Active RFID is regarded as a complimentary technology to GSM and GPS systems in the logistic and transport industries.
